Apparently since Alex Tanguay isnt getting along with Mike Keenan, he may be sent to Montreal in return for ..Kovalev :|...

If this happens, im going to die.
i HATE Kovalev.

Oh, and "habs_fan30"... what do you think about this?

Kovelev is too old (6 years older than Tanguey)... if this happens, Calgary OBVIOUSLY gets the bad deal.

I don't know if I have ever seen too many Yahoo rumours come true and trust me when I say this would not be a straight up deal even if it were to happen. Remember that Sutter is running the show and he is no idiot. Montreal would have to include alot more than a diminished Kovalev. People seem to forget that Keenan is just the coach, no longer a GM. Kovalev could be probably had for a bag of pucks. I wouldn't fret this one.

Calgary's interest in Kovalev is not at all surprising. He was a dynamic and effective two-way player under Keenan in NY. Keenan has also been known to bring his favorites with him as he hops from team to team.

Furthermore, Kovalev is in his contract year and the tensions between he, his coach and the team may be insurmountable. Assuming Montreal's interest in re-upping Kovalev's deal (which I highly doubt), the player will likely seriously entertain offers from other clubs at season's end.

As such, Montreal would like to show something for Kovalev before he flies the coop. A younger, Francophone player looking to rekindle his career may be the best option the team has under these circumstances.

Honestly, this may really be the best scenario for Tanguay, Kovalev and both teams involved.

If Tanguay isn't happy playing for Keenan, being six years younger will mean nothing because he'll just be a bench warmer. I know, if you don't like Kovalev so much, give Ericksson back to the Leafs along with Tanguay, and we'll give you McCabe and a 2009 first round draft. lol

Works for me but honestly straight up would not make sense. Good thing Keenan isn't the GM or it would be Tanguay and Kipper for Kovalev and Huet and a bag of pucks.

I doubt that is going to happen. Kovalev wouldn't get along with Keanan either. He's not the impressionable young kid he was in 1994, and Keanan and Sutter know it. That would definitely be a bad trade for Calgary. Tanguay is, by far, the superior player. Keanan or no Keanan, Sutter is the GM and he is no idiot.

Dont get your Panties in a knot, i dont think it will happen, well for kovalev i mean, i think tanguay is smart to be traded, i dont like Mike Keenan as a coach, i couldnt imagine playing for him.

I don't give much credence to Yahoo sportswriters. I doubt very much that Kovalev will be wearing a different "C" on his chest this season.

Take a deep breath, and remember that it's Yahoo Sports stirring the pot. I swear they have some guy on their payroll who just sits there and makes up this stuff.

I can no longer count the number of Peter Forsberg rumours they've manufactured this season - and it's only been a few weeks.

Kovalev is awesome. That would be a fair trade.

I agree this would up there with the Gilmour deal!!! Remember that one? They have got to get someone better than that for him. If they want to deal with Montreal what about Ryder?
