I've been thinking the very same thing. It is not Madden himself. It is corporate marketing. I hate to say it, but I think it is because black kids will only buy the games with black people on it, whereas white people will buy it without looking at color. Just look at the Mike Vick situation in Atlanta to back up my theory. Look in the stands or on the street. You will just as likely see a white kid wearing a black player's jersey as a white players. You will hardly ever see a black kid wearing a white player's jersey.

I suspect that the EA Sports marketing department, not John Madden, decides who's on the cover. There may be some weird societal quirk that makes people more likely to buy a football game if there is a black quarterback on the cover. That probably doesn't qualify as racism and doesn't really involve John Madden.

I dont think he is racist at all. This country has become completely pussified by the liberal freaks and their PC campaign. If a white guy were put on the cover....now that would be racism. If you dont totally kiss black peoples' @sses you are automatically labeled a racist. Im not saying those guys didnt belong on the cover because they were black, just that if a white guy ever makes the cover then Al, Jesse, and the NAACP would be up in arms demanding an official apology and reparations for being slighted. They better hurry and put a hispanic, a muslim, and an Asian guy on the cover soon or Im sure they will get slapped with a lawsuit. God forbid some deserving white boy gets some recognition......there will be riots in the streets.

I don't know if it's actually John Madden's choice who makes the cover. Remember, the game is PRODUCED by Electronic Arts, it's ENDORSED and NAMED AFTER John Madden.
Palmer was on the cover of EA's college game after he won the Heisman and got drafted #1 overall, NCAA Football 2004.
You also have to look at marketing, popularity, your target audience (not that football fans dont like Manning, Brady, and Farve). And those athletes might have turned down the cover position, I'm pretty sure they were asked to do it. There are a number of reasons to turn it down also: the "Curse", scheduling conflicts, just-dont-feel-like-doing-it, money...a whole lot goes into this stuff.

I would be shocked if John Madden himself had anything to do with which player is on the cover.
EA sports most likely goes after the "hot'' player. Vick, Culpepper, Young, McNabb....they all had a lot of marketability when they got placed on the cover. As for Manning, Brady, and whoever else....they just don't market as well. Though, everyone seems to be trying with Peyton and Favre nowadays.

Madden is NOT a racist!! The Marketing people at EA Sports realize if an athelete of color is on the cover more games will sell(their market research tells them that).
YOU seem to be thinking, Madden has "control" over the "Madden Curse",so ......never mind......it's all B.S.!!!

probably. with the Madden curse and all, I guess Madden don't mind seeing any of those black Qbs injured. He especially wants to protect the greatest player of all-time and his man crush - Bret Favre

I think you're reaching with this question!
There are alot of things that are involved with who gets put on the cover of Madden.
I'll guarantee you the he (Madden) has little to no say so in it.
To Stonewall: You're full of sh*t by saying that black people don't wear white player's jerseys!!
It happens all the time outside of your trailer park. Perhaps you should get out more.
P.S. Don't IM me about this either!

Manning, Favre and Palmer are too smart for that....and they don't offer the cover to whites. They know that whites don't buy based on race...blacks do.
Stonewall is right...what he said in itself proves that blacks are the bigger racists...unfortunately they only see what they want and that's whats holding them back. If whites where smart enough, they would stop supporting the real racists, and see what happens when the white mans money no longer roles in.
