Oh MY GOD! I think you're right, I just read the link you sent me. Thank you sooo much, I've been thinking about this every so often for years. My dad and I watched it when I was young, and that's all I remembered about it. You don't know what this means to me!!! THanks again!!!

This sounds like "The Andromeda Strain".
It is set on Earth. A satelite falls to earth near a small town. The people there are infected with a disease that kills them almost instantly. Their blood is crystalized. The movie is about the people trying to figure out what the disease is and how to stop it before it gets out of control. This movie is based on a Micheal Crichton novel.
