Well, LIVE giants squids haven't even been found until recently. There's evidence that they really only live and eat at depths around 3,000 ft. So no...for the most part, they are probably completely unaware of humans.

There are several different big squids - the really huge Giant Squids that live in the deep ocean aren't likely ever to encounter humans in the wild; on the other hand, the big Humboldt Squid may attack divers, and since they've been more comon up near the surface lately, there is some risk. I have no idea whether the risk of being attacked by a squid is greater than being attacked by a shark, but probably both are less likely than being hit by a car.

I doubt they "prey" on humans since there aren't that many humans where the giant squids live but I did see on TV that squid will eat each other.

Normally they are in two different environments. But there was a giant squid story about one plucking survivors off their life raft. The guy that was held on to by his buddies, even had a hook that was left in his leg as proof. (giant squids have a hook in the middle of their suckers.).

And there's plenty of old stories about ships being attacked by giant squids. They had to know they existed somehow....

No more than polar bears prey on penguins. Different habitats- we never meet.

And if/when we do, we are nothing like their natural prey, so we'd be left alone. Though the brunt of their curiosity may well be fatal.

I don't think they actually hunt humans no, but if a human was in the water with one I am sure it would have a wee munch.

possibly if your swimming a thousand or so feet under water,
it has taken years just to get a picture. i think your pretty safe to go back into the water.
