I've got a great camera, wonderful fabric for backdrops but need idea for hanging backdrops on. Someone suggested a shower rod. But haven't a place to put it. Any other ideas or tips on starting would be great and well welcomed.

It may be time to make the commitment and put some hardware in. You are probably dedicating a studio space anyway, and that's just part of it. My backgrounds are wrapped around carpet tubes and I just put up the one I want, then unroll it. I have the ceiling mounted projector screen hardware. You can also invest in a backdrop stand.

I was going to suggest a curtain rod and the fixings, but I suppose you can't put anything into the wall? There are several quilt-hanging systems on the market, but I think they might need fixing permanently to the wall. What about a cheap folding screen from a carboot sale, with fabric draped over?

A Chinese screen. You know what I'm referring to...The portable room dividers that fold up.
