Perhaps she is better qualified, or complains less.
Ask your manager what you can do to "earn" more hours instead of just complaining about it. If there is "nothing" you can do, then I'd say you're right, this seems to be bias.

It's hard to be the judge of that without knowing the people involved or hearing their side.
Are you working as well as she is? Is she maybe selling more, providing better service to customers or kissing the boss' @ss more? Or did she maybe ask for extra hours earlier than you and you can't both get them?
Or do you think you are equal on all levels and only differ by color? This is something that you just have to try to judge yourself by the situation. It may be racism, but there may also be another explanation.

I agree with scuba dude, i think people enjoy using the race or sex card so they don;t have to blame themselves. this brings me to a question of sexism, a women asked her boss for more money and more hours like you, the boss said he could not oblige. she knows a man just got a raise and more hours, but in fact the boss said he know what she is thinking and it was only becasue the man asked first. Maybe the white girl in her interview asked for all those hours, hey in this world if your not first your last. Or maybe you have an attitude problem, maybe the other girl works harder and is nicer than you, why do people always jump and the racism bandwagon when it could be numerous reasons.
I see your point i really do i could never begin to understand the hardships that blacks, mexicans, etc etc go through on a daily basis nor do I try. i wish you the best. i really do. just remeber you have a lifetime to go don't sweat the small stuff.

This has been an argument around me additionally. i think the white ladies that date black men solely have a low self-properly worth. they're in many situations the ladies that are obese with pasty white pores and skin that are actually not very eye-catching. those i be attentive to do no longer think of they deserve white men or that they do no longer look to be solid adequate. it relatively is not solid for everyone to have low self-properly worth, it relatively is not significant what you appear as if. From what i've got considered additionally, it truly is a trend in intense college. in many situations short lived after graduation. ladies finally become bored of being mistreated and the lads in many situations strengthen up. Why do no longer many white men date black ladies?

Okay well its a possibility that it could be a racial issue because you said that a black person hasn't worked there in 12 years. But maybe she is just more experienced or maybe they think she might have more potential.
But listen around at work and talk to peope you trust about what they think and if you hear them say something racist then that should be your answer.
Just give it your best shot at work and try.

I don't think this is racist. You need to find out a lot of things before you categorize as such. Does she have flexable hours so that she can work all that she does? Are you limited /can olny work certain days etc.? Have you done something to make the manager angry, call in sick a lot, come in late, not show when you were scheduled? As I said, take all things into consideration.

Just do your best. Show up to work early. Do the extra mile. Make the racism apparent if it's there. If they don't give you more hours and you're giving 110%, something's wrong.
Get a job somewhere else if that's the case.

ask the boss directly why the other girl has more hours, maybe she works harder or she just likes herr personality more. maybe the other person is more available or has come in when someone called out sick. it doesn't have to be about race. if the boss told you to look elsewhere she obvious isn'yt happy with you and probably will never give you the hours you desire.

I think the white gal asked first and beat u to it. So instead of assuming racism first ask your co worker in a polite way of course if she asked first. I'm sure she did.
Assuming racism is just plain immature and foolish.
