I think the next evolutionary step is in our digestive system. We will adapt to eating synthetic foods and will increasingly become allergic to natural and organic foods, until most people in developed countries won't be able to eat natural-grown foods at all.
Not exactly a step in the right direction, but we adapt to our environment, and synthetics food ingredients are our dietary environment.

Hmmm. Possibly a lesser dependance for air and a higher tollerance for heat.
Evolution usually is environmentally dictated, and global warming and deforrestation seems to be two major issues right now that would shape us.
I don't see any major advancements intellectually due to the dependance of technology to survive and operate.
There may be a technological evolution with a Man/Machine merger.

nicely, you're able to paintings in the direction of some thing like that. We, as a species, have made progression in our machines, yet no longer plenty else. quite no non secular evolution. You acn say that mentally we've more advantageous because of the fact we are greater attentive to the failings happening around us, ie technology, yet that announces rather no longer something approximately ninety 5% of the international. ninety 5% of the international (least, the industrialized international with each and all the individuals) is hooked on oil, spends their lives changing forex, and each and all the at the same time as anyone continues to be having little ones at the same time as there is not any info that we can be waiting to assist something on the fringe of our inhabitants sizes with out oil. the way our societies are based is predicated around the "low value power" kind, which no longer exists. power is damn costly in recent times and basically going up. yet whilst anyone continues to be in that bubble of lack of expertise, that power is going to circulate on constantly, we are by no potential going to take the subsequent step we'd desire to as a species. So i do no longer see evolution as a in all danger danger till this is compelled on us. Evolution occurs from survival of the fittest, and because it stands now, that may not the way issues are ruled. this is survival of the richest. My element is that we've reached a funk, which will talk, in society the place human beings are not prepared to circulate forward. "progression" interior the minds of maximum folk potential that issues get much less complicated. yet at this element in time, it potential that we could paintings greater durable. plenty greater durable. So with out human beings prepared to take that step in better numbers, we can't evolve as a species.

This is already happening...
Due to increased intelligence man is now living longer. Also, thanks to our increased intelligence we have sense to not stay in the sun and burn our skin, so people are looking younger longer, avoiding cancer. ESP is also a factor that will constantly pop up amongst the human population. Right now it's nothing for someone to say they have de-ja-vu. Thirty years ago it was almost unheard of.

That is a mystery that would be great to be around when it happened, but I would hope that the biggest evolutionary change, would be that the human race develops TOLERANCE.
