A normal day has 24 hours. Each hour has 60 minutes, and each minute has 60 seconds.
24 x 60 = 1440 minutes per day,
1440 x 60 = 86,400 seconds per day,
unless there is a "leap second" at the end of the day, then there is one extra second.
