Just wondering what people thought of this computer that I'm thinking of putting together for gaming, video editing, web publishing:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
500GB HD
nVidia 7600GS Graphics
4GB of Kingston RAM
Creative Audigy 7.1 soundcard
Obviously there are motherboard/DVD drives/moniters etc to consider bu I've got those narrowed down and mainly concerned with the above specs.

Should have added that it is a AM2 socket!

Well if you are really into gaming, you might want to get a better video card. That one is one generation old, and was a midrange card for that generation, hence its not going to give great performance on new games. As for the sound card, if it is between that and integrated sound, most definately go with the sound card, you WILL be able to tell the difference.
The one thing I really want to mention is about the RAM. If you get 4GB, make sure you get a 64 bit OS, or you will not be able to use all the RAM, if you load up a 32 bit OS, it will only show somewhere between 3 and 3.5 GB.

The x2 5000 doesn't come in 939, at least I hope it doesn't.
Anyway, that CPU is pretty decent, you might want to consider sacrificing some space and getting a 320GB HD, to get some extra graphic power.
I'd recommend a 7900GS or an x1950Pro.
On a lesser note, unless you have the best ears in the universe, have the most accurate speakers ever made, or you're legally insane, you won't be able to tell the difference between using a 7.1 channel sound card, and using the automatic channel splitting that most speakers have.

Look good although you might want to try and get a GeForce 8 series if you're likely to want DX10 support in the near future. This is irrelevant entirely if you don't run Windows Vista, mind.
Presumably you're going for socket AM2 rather than 939? Socket 939 would be an awful idea.

With any of the nVidia series, the *600 card usually has half of the memory interface bandwidth of the *800 series, making a 7800 or 7900 a far better card than the 7600.
I would suggest a 7950gt, if you're not looking to break the bank on a graphics card. Everything else looks good.

Those specs are decent. Just do not expect, say playing Bioshock in the maximum settings and expect 30+FPS.
It's because I have similar specs to yours and it's performance at max settings is a little slow. Although fine tuning settings gave me a good balance of speed and visuals.
My Specs are :
AMD Athlon64 X2 5600
80GB HD
GeForce 7600GS
1GB PQI RAM

Good system specs, but I would go with a better graphics card like the Nvidia 8600, and the athlon 6000+. Every thing else is great for what you are doing.
