my ex and i broke up about 3 months ago..I did have my goodbyes with his son (very sad) but i had to break it off with his dad since he was incapable of telling the truth...I guess he was a pathological liar...
Anyway, i havent seen or heard from him or his son (which is probably for the best) I guess im feeling the guilt (which i shouldnt) but its that stage of the healing process where i am feeling guilty thinking i abondoned my ex and his son.....Has anyone ever experienced this before?

I know exactly what you're talking about. It wasn't with an ex's child but with his sister.
I dated a guy for 3 years. His dad was always out traveling and his mom had some psych problems and was in and out of facilities. His sister was much younger than me and I kind of took on the role of mother/big sister.
I knew our relationship was over for about 6 months before I broke up with him- I only stuck around because I felt like I was abandoning his sister.

Hi....

somtimes relationships don't work out and we do feel as if we abandoned people which were involved (such as your ex's son).

it's not your fault. you broke up for a reason, and it was well-founded.

i dated a man who could not tell the truth to save his life, either. it wasn't pleasant, and i couldn't believe anything he said.

what you did was best for you. living with a liar isn't fun.

You would do the son more of a disservice by re-entering his life. He will see you and his dad getting back together. You should all move on.
