I have been struggling with this decision. I work 40 hours a week, have a 5 year old son and a husband, and I go to school 15 hours a week at night. I never see my family and I don't really ever have time to study during the week so my weekends are spent doing that. I am thinking about quitting my job. My husband earns enough money for us to live comfortably, just not expensively. What would you do?

My husband supports me 100%. My son gets upset every time I leave him. It's too much for him to handle. I can't break his heart anymore.

School determines what the rest of your life is going to be like, unless you have a truly exceptional skill that you could market straight away.
Every time I want to quit school and go into the career force, I compare what I want to do after I graduate (Air Force officer) versus its non-degreed counterpart (Enlisted) and I get my *** to class. In terms of quality of life and earning potential, there's no comparison.

If school is important to your long term plans, I'd stick with it. If you can live without working for now, quitting the job would seem like the best choice - your son is only this age once, and it sucks to miss out on such a fun part of their life.

If you can get by without your job, quit the job. Education is very important now with all the out-sourcing off shore going on.

Talk it over with your husband first, to make sure that you will be able to get by with one income. If this works, then stop working, and continue with school. Upon completion, you will have more to offer in the workplace.

School is usually the more important of the two. I'm in the same situation with school and work, but I don't have any kids. I always put school before work.
