I've recently joined a new website which pays active users n getting ppl to join it. The payment method is thru Paypal or cheque. In fact many other simlar websites pay thru Paypal.

I've nvr used Paypal b4 n I found so many Q + A on Yahoo Answers regarding Paypal scams, frozen Paypal accounts for no reason, Paypal simply deducts money fr users' bank account n etc.

If there are so many problems with Paypal, how come there are still so many users n websites choose them as their payment gateway to customers ?

Is Paypal safe or secure at all ? I'm living in Malaysia n do not own an US bank account. If I choose to use Paypal, will I be able to transfer the money to my Malaysian bank account ?

Thanks a lot to u, the great ppl who will be answering me.

It is safe as long as you follow guidelines. If you respond to unsolicited emails and give out your password by visiting the website via email links then yes, you are at risk of fraud but that is the same with anything. You should never enter your password into a website that you got to by following an email link. Always open a web page, type in the address and do it that way. If you can't find what the email was talking about, then you can be pretty sure it was a fake email anyway that was just after your password. Paypal as a rule doesn't just deduct money or freeze accounts for no reason, there is generally a very good reason. The account may be frozen if they suspect fraud, this is just a way of protecting your money and money can only be taken if it is owed to themselves or someone who requests a refund etc. I hope this helps. I have used Paypal for many years by the way and have had no problems at all.

PayPal does NOT deduct money from people's accounts! You can set your PayPal account to transfer money in and out of your bank account but PayPal will never remove money from your account without your explicit action.

I've been using PayPal since nearly day one and have never had a problem with it. It's fast, secure, and easy to use.

PayPal will lock accounts if there is evidence of illegal activity and return any money in the account to the owner. That's as it should be. Very early on (circa 2000, 2001) there were some users whose accounts were locked out for questionable reasons and the money withheld by PayPal. Banking regulators stepped in very quickly and corrected these issues and they have not been repeated since.

Most folks who have lost money via PayPal have been victimized by scam artists. They would have lost their money regardless of the payment method used; it's NOT a PayPal security issue.

Whether or not you can access your Malay bank account through PayPal is up to Malay banking laws. If it can be done, you'll find the instructions on the PayPal website.

Hello, Paypal are no different to any other money organisation, with the exception, you do not get any of the decent protection afforded by other bankers, as normal customer rights. They are owned by paypal and for some unknown reason, if you believe it , they seem not to have to comply with normal U.K. rules. If there is a problem it will usually get sorted out, eventually, I gave up on them ages ago, and I have over 500 feedback at 100%, better off with a cheque, postal order, or plain old cash on collection, NO fees no problems. no scammers.

Those are probably isolated cases. If you see 1 person per week getting scammed on Paypal, that doesn't mean anything if you consider how many hundreds of people use it safely.
Nothing is perfect in this world, but when you choose something, you choose it because it is less flawed than the alternatives.
