I have no problems with the idea of sprucing up the taxtures, adding anti-aliasing, and releasing it on a new system. Just that would make it look quite good.

But I don't want the how "PS3 graphics" thing. That would take way too much time and effort, whiich could be put towards a game I haven't already played.

The simple answer is NO. People who say otherwise are not paying attention to all the factors involved in making a video game. Not only would it takes years, as most Final Fantasy games do, but it would be impossible. They did not make another FF7 for the console and SquareEnix has already said multiple times that they will not. 90% of the game is top-down view (well, semi) and has pre-rendered backgrounds. Asking for them to remake it solely for graphics would ruin the experience of the original game. It wouldn't be the same, and they would have to redo literally every visual aspect of the game. It would outrage the loyal fans of the game while it would please casual fans simply because it "looks pretty". Pretty is not what that game is about.

Good luck finding the original in stores, unfortunately I doubt you will. Last I checked the game sells for around 70 bucks USD on EBay, but I could be out of date on that so don't quote me. I lost my first disc of my original copy and had to scour the game stores looking for one; I was LUCKY to find another, extremely lucky. Call your local Gamestop, GameCrazy, Software Etc, Safeway, EB Games, even Toys R Us and ask around.

There have been all sorts of rumors floating around that SquareEnix will be recreating and updating FF7 for the Playstation 3.

This is based on a secret ending to the PSP FF7 prequel FF&: Crisis Core. It shows the PS3 tech demo for FF7 where they recreated the opening sequence using PS3 level graphics and a sign that says, "to be continued." But other than that, no one knows anything offical.

As for finding FF7 itself...Ask your local video game store. Most will have a used copy shipped from another store if you ask them to.

Updating it and releasing it on the PS3 etc? Not likely.

Porting it to another system, like a handheld? I'd say quite likely. They have done it for 1-6 after all, and they just released Tactics on the PSP which actually came out after seven. My bet is it will go to the PSP...Although the DS could do some interesting things with it also...drag and drop materia...hmmm... I'm just not sure how much data one of those DS cards holds, but I think graphically it could handle it....it is getting Dragon Quest 9 after all...
