I am a Chinese living in my country. I love animals and really want to know more about them, do you think some of the American zoos can accept me as a volunteer? it looks like all the application forms are for Americans, should i stop wasting my time? does it mean that it is impossible for foreigners doing volunteer work in the US? Thank you very much!

I need to know how you would be able to volunteer from China to help with zoos in the US? Are you asking for a visa so you can come here to volunteer? If that is the case then you need to apply for the visa first and get accepted in order to come here legally and be able to volunteer. If you are asking if you could volunteer once you get here, that would be up to each individual zoo and their guidelines. Thanks for wanting to volunteer, there are never enough people to help with taking care of animals.

I am sure the applications are focused on Americans because that is where the vast majority of volunteers are from. I think any zoo will be glad to have you, especially those that see a lot of foreign visitors. Language skills is one area that Americans do not study much.

Not at all, there are foreign groups that do volunteer work in US states and territories.

I would suggest calling a few zoos, such as the San Diego Zoo, and asking them about volunteering and just explain your residence/citizenship status. I am sure someone there would be able to help you figure out a way to achieve your goal.
