Or do we have it right by controlling nearly every facet of daily life?

Examples:

time is money
money is everything
retribution and vengeance in the criminal justice system
no smoking in your car
no handheld cell phones while driving
Motorcycle cops on every corner waiting to pull you over
No selling liquor after 2 am

Please add to the list or give me your rationale if we are too uptight or not.
