DO you choose a perfume by
1) you smell it on someone and ask what it is.?
2)you look at the bottles and choose what would look nice on your bedside table?
3) choose something you have seen on TV but have never smelt but buy it because of the Celebrity/designer etc that promotes it? Tell the truth on this one !!!
4)Test them out at the shop and see which your friends/BF like?
5) something else?

I spray a tester and wait 5 or 10 minutes.Once the fragrance has settled i then decide if i want it.I have wasted money before by buying perfume that smells different after wearing it for a while to what i was expecting. My fave is Aromatics by Clinique.A proper perfume not a manufactured designer fragrance.

How do you know what the inside of a cab driver's boxers smell like? Where has your nose been. And what was it doing there? lol All kidding aside, people don't perceive their odor the way others perceive the same odor. Even if a person is wearing perfume, what it smells like to them isn't always what it smells like to someone else. That's really why people, when wearing a new perfume, usually ask others how well the like the odor. In your instance, maybe that person's real unadulterated odor is much worse. So she puts on a perfume that actually doesn't 'mesh' well with her body odor. But for her, it's 'heaven'. But i don't think there's anything you can say to her that would do any good. Whatever you say would only offend her. I had a similar situation with a guy in my office. He smelled like something died 6 months ago. Nothing could cure his ignorance. So I tried using perfume on ME. Just to exist in the same office with him. Didn't work. His odor still permeated the place. Finally, I would put a dab of 'Vick's VapoRub' under my nose. That did the trick. Once I was able to tolorate being in the office with him, I and others started working on getting this guy to quit. That did the trick too. Took 6 months. I recently found out that that same guy now works in an up-scale restaurant as a waiter. Can you imagine? It takes all kinds, doesn't it. Try and have a great day.

I usually go by the smell first. I'm the type that picks bottles up at the counter and go thru them to find a scent. Typically, if I like it, my nose will draw me directly to it. There have been times I've gotten perfume (by Beyonce or JLo) only because they created it. Luckily, it turned out to be good. Same with Britneys.

I ask the assistant for help. I tell them past ones I've liked and ask them if they can suggest something similar.
Even if I like the smell I consciously try not to wear the same as my friends or a celebrity perfume.
Sometimes I take my boyf with me, in which case option 4.

I always go 4 ones that smell nice. I dont go for over powering smells as my mum gets head aches and she hates perfume smells around her. I love sarah jessica parkers lovely one im getting in a few weeks. I adore it because it smells fresh. I knoe that if u cant smell it on your self its the one for you. I also know its some thing to do with the acid in your skin and thats why skin with a certain acid in it stays on longer than others. I smelt my fave one when a gal i know sprayed it on me and i smelt it when it'd soaked in
