I must be in the minority on this one because although I love Ellen, she's wrong about this.
She must have gone through the application and adoption process, so she knew she couldn't just hand the dog off to someone else at her discretion.
The puppy place is just looking out for the welfare of the dog. Probably, if Ellen and her hairdresser wouldn't have made such a big stink about it, the Paws place would have let the hairdresser's family go through the adoption process too.
I don't agree with Paws rule of no children under 14, though. I think that is ridiculous.

I agree with you. She's turned it into a power struggle. I heard her say that if Ellen wanted to open a puppy shelter, then she could determine where the dogs go. She's just doing this to prove that she can, and that she doesn't have to do what Ellen says.
It seems pretty silly to me. It was Ellen's dog, right? Seems like she should be able to give it away if she wants to. The point of the whole things is to find the dog a good home, but this PAWS woman is just trying to be difficult.

this whole thing is so wrong. the paws people have really overstepped their jurisdiction on ellen'e puppy adoption. the main point is that the lil puppy find a loving home and leave the shelter. well that's what happened. ellen could not keep the dog so she gave it a loving home. ellen paid so much for the care of that puppy and the rescuers are acting as if she's done something evil to the dog.

I saw this woman on ET tonight. Once Ellen adopted the dog, that should have been the end for the program. Ellen gave it to a loving family! That should be sufficient. That is my opinion, anyway!

I had it on in the other room, but I missed this segment. I'm with Ellen. They ran the clip on the NBC Nightly News last night. So, it's the Paws ladies job to go out of her way and break the heart of a little girl by snatching her dog? What a bunch of you-know-what. I hope she's wallowing in the bad publicity she's getting. There is no excuse for what she did.

Wrong!!! They are looking out for the welfare of the puppy. Granted, they could have handled this better, BUT..... They interview you, they establish that you have and will provide a suitable home for the animal. Then you "break" that trust by giving the dog away. How do they know the dog now has a good home???? Their answer is to require you to return the dog if you can't keep it so they can again ensure a good home. All they had to do was go to the shelter with the dog and both families, say I can't keep but this people can, that would have been that!!!
