Check in the text services control panel to see what keyboard layout your laptop is set to.

Although that's a very strange problem to be having, unless you're doing some serious keyboard remapping which if you were doing you'd know about.

you can go to your laptops computer manufacturer and pull up the manual for your system and it will tell you how to re-seat your keyboard. If its a Dell here is what you do depending on the model but most are the same....

1. Look at the top right corner of the KB should see an indent where you can put a flat head or butter knife (not recommended but some people use it anyway.)
2. Start to pyre that top off, its going to take the hinge cover and go all the way across to the other side. You will need to go between the F8 and F9 keys and F4 and F5 to pyre it up in the middle. Its going to feel like it will break but it will not.
3. You should see between 2-4 screws across holding the KB down. unscrew thoughs.
4. Life the top of the KB up about 30 degrees, you will see a ribbon attached to the bottom of the KB and to the computer.
5. there is a little tab on the bottom of the computer that you can life which will release the KB.
6. Once the KB is released, make sure that there is no dust and re-seat the KB.( put it back in)

If you are still having trouble with the KB then it will need to be replaced.

Try rebooting the machine, and then reloading the driver for it
send a description on the Laptop , with operating system to
http://www.pvazpc.com . He can locate the proper driver if you cannot and will send it to you via e-mail with a simple instruction on how to reload it. His service is free but he has a donation button if he is able to help you you can drop him a few dollars only if you want.
But he is really good a locating those odd hard to find drivers
for hardware and such.
