Adrian Peterson, the proud product of the Oklahoma Sooners football machine, is torching the competition in the NFL these days. Clearly, if he weren't in Minnesota, the Vikings would be in terrible shape.

Do you think he'll win this year's Rushing Title, Rookie of the Year award, and/or a Pro Bowl '08 invitation?

Is he truly the next "great tailback" we've seen since the emergence of LaDanian Tomlinson? Or, as some have said, is he the next Eric Dickerson or Barry Sanders? AND don't you know the Detroit Lions are kicking themselves in the head b/c they chose another WR over this stellar RB!

*Every weekend that passes, my answer is confirmed more and more as "yes," to all of the questions above.

(rubs chin). It's possible that he will receive at least one option out of your three.

I respectfully beg you, however: don't go there YET with the comparisons.
Barry Sanders....although his career was not long, it was golden. No, platinum. That's almost like comparing a basketball rookie to Michael Jordan and I KNOW you would never do such a thing, would you Dr. Evil?
(snickers sadistically)
And yes...the Lions are kicking themselves. They've been doing that for a long time for a variety of reasons. This one is just the latest.

I'm probably not going to win best answer with this as I am not going to give you the answer you are looking for. They have played six games with ten to go and ten games is a lot in the NFL. Anything can happen. He could step on a teammates foot and twist his ankle. Freak injuries happen all the time. It's too soon to say he will win the rushing title because we don't know what will happen health wise. He plays one of the more demanding positions in football. Runningbacks have a short life span as it is. So at this point in the season, no, you cannot say that he will win the rushing title.

If he stays healthy and puts up numbers week in and week out like he did with the Bears, then he has a very good chance at winning the rushing title with the leagues other big guns having problems, Jackson, Alexander, etc etc. He has the tools.

There is another problem he will face, even if he stays healthy, teams can game-plan for him. They can totally take him away. The Vikings don't have much else going on for them. So I am sure teams will take the attitude of letting someone else beat them as opposed to letting him run down their throats.

So yeah he could, but will he? Only time will tell that. At least give him 10 games under his belt before we put him into the Hall.

I think the answer to all your questions is yes. If Minnesota had just an average QB, they would be right up there with Green Bay and Dallas among the top teams in the NFC. In a few years, Peterson will be the face of the NFL because not only does he have an unearthly combination of size, agility and speed, but he also had the class and integrity that the NFL needs in the light of all the recent character issues with players.

As of right now I think that the Rushing Title, ROY, a Pro Bowl spot are all AP's to lose. I also think that if he keep this up he'll be in the running for offensive player of the year, and even the MVP. Why?

He's on pace for 1942 yards rushing, 560 yds receiving, and roughly 16 TDs. If you want to know how that stacks up, he is averaging 121.4 yds/game. The player that is second in the NFL in yds/game has just 102.8. Heck, LT is second in the NFL in rushing yards to Peterson, having rushed for 80 less yards...and he's played one more game that Peterson has.

So yes, it is still early, but he's had a monster first 3rd or the season, I don't see him dropping too far.

I think he is the greatest running back of all time or at least thats what we will be saying 10 years down the road If the Vikings can have even get just a decent passing game I could see AP running for 2000 yards next season just don't put him on the cover of Madden

Rookie of the Year and a Pro Bowl seem very likely at this point. By week 12, we will have a better idea about the rushing title (LT may start showing up in the coming weeks), but that looks like a good chance as well right now.

He has a good chance. That's what happen to Anquan Boldin. He made it to the Pro Bowl his first year. I'm sure they are going to limit his carries so he won't get hurt, but if he breaks away on average 6 yards a carry then he should be able to carry the ball 20 times and still get 150 yards plus.

Yup. Definiately the Rookie of the year award. Those Sooners know how to breed a great back!

Well, its only week six, not even half way through the season. So, yes he is the early favorite but stranger things have happened. I wouldnt be surprised to see some rookie catch fire in the next few weeks and make ROY a real competition.
Keep an eye on: Trent Edwards in Buffalo, Ted Ginn Jr. in Miami (since Chambers is gone), Mecheam in New Oreans and Dwayne Bowe in Kansas City.
