I love John Denver. I know all of his songs by heart (even the ones that weren't popular)
Nothing helps me relax after a stressful day more than his soothing voice

John Denver was quite the country / folk singer in the 1970s.
Rocky Mountain High could be a tribute to the MLB Colorado Rockies who are on a big high.
Love the song Country Roads.
thanks for the memories

John Denver was and still is one of my favorites. I even named my cat (Denver) after him! I was so sad when I found out he had died in his plane crash but I know he was doing something that he loved at the time. I never got to see him perform but I have dozens of his cassette tapes and a few LPs. His music always made me picture in my mind of nature, mountians, wildlife, etc. All the things I love. He was a great conservationist too. Always doing something for the environment. Wish he was still around but at least we'll always have his music.

I too liked the late John Denver although I consider him as a folk singer. He was an amazing writer with most of his songs referring to nature. So sad we lost him in an experimental airplane crash.

I like John Denver. I was a kid when most of his hits were on the radio, so his music makes me think of childhood. I loved Country Road and Sunshine (on my Shoulder), and Rocky Mountain High. I remember being real sad when he died. That was a shame.

One of the world's best-known and best-loved performers, John Denver earned international acclaim as a songwriter, performer, actor, environmentalist and humanitarian. John’s music has spanned three decades, outlasted countless musical trends, and garnered numerous music awards and honors, including a 1996 Induction into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, and in 1993, the prestigious Albert Schweitzer Music award.
The son of a U.S Air Force officer, John’s artistic journey began after the family moved to Tucson, where at age eleven, he was given his grandmother’s guitar. John eventually took up guitar lessons and joined a boy’s choir, which led him at age 20 to take matters into his own hands and pursue his dream of a career in music.
In 1963 he struck out on his own, moving to Los Angeles to be in the heart of the burgeoning music scene. It was during this time that Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was urged by friends to change his name if a recording career was to be in his future. His friends suggested the name John Sommerville, but he ultimately took his stage name from the beautiful Rocky

Can you have been a girl with a guitar at CAMP in the 70s & 80s and NOT like John Denver? I *do* consider it a small embarrassment that I like him, but dammit, I do! And Peter, Paul & Mary, too. It was compulsory campfire music. ;-)

I love John Denver, although like previous posters have said, I consider him folk rather than country. It reminds me of my summers growing up. I used to drive everyone nuts at work when I would bring his greatest hits album in :-)
