I'd first just look around your room with a digital camera and find things you don't want anymore and sell them on eBay. I did that a few months ago and made about $2000.
Then, go ask people in your family and friends if they have anything they don't want. Even if it's something huge like an old broken car (I sold one for $650, and a broken scooter for $500). Pretty much everything sells.
If you sell something to big to ship (like my car and scooter), just say it's for "local pickup only" --- then they have to come pick it up. I sold my grandpa's old steel swing set he didn't want in his backyard anymore on eBay. It went for $250, and the guy who won came, disassembled it, and hauled it off (my grandpa wanted to throw it away).
It works really well --- especially at first with the random things you'll find you can sell. Then you just keep your eyes open for things people don't want that you think can sell!
I think it's dang cool you're trying to make money on your own. Good luck!

For real try this...
Make up a whole heap of supporters flags and go to your local stadium when a big game is on (don't know what country you live in so whatever sport is big in your country)
go to the entrance (not the ticket booth) and sell the flags at a dollar each, if people ask why you are selling flags say you need money to buy a ticket to the game. Somewhere along the way someone will feel sorry for you and give you a free ticket...
Then take your ticket to the ticket booth and sell it to someone for half price ;-)
and repeat until you run out of customers...
trust me this works, cos your a kid people will think awww cute and buy the flags off you and if you ask 100 people you can almost guarantee one of them will give you a ticket. ask 200 people and you can get 2 tickets :-D
You can make the supporters flags out of ice block sticks and paper, it doesn't matter how flash they look you've just gotta use that cute factor... lol
Good luck hustling mate...
P.S. get your parents permission before doing this, you don't wanna end up in the back of some sickos van...

Here are some ideas:
Besides the obvious yard work: Mowing, raking, weeding, etc.. Tutor a younger student in something you are good in.
Dog walking and/or washing. Wash cars. Work at a farm, picking crops, hauling hay. Sell somethings (toys, outgrown clothes, music, jewelry, magazines or books), on eBay. Do a yard sale (great opportunity to get rid of things you no longer use). Ask neighbors if there is anything that you can do for them to earn some money (cleaning garage, painting a fence, power washing driveways, etc...) Just do a good job, and a keep record for future resumes. Good Luck!

$500 for a ten y/o in just a month?! Well I don't know anyone who would let you babysit, but as we are approaching Falls changes in nature, raking and bagging leaves is your best bet. If your city doesn't require everyone to recycle, you could collect cans and whatnot from your house as well as your neighbors and turn that into some change. And kid, why don't you sell some of your video games to Game Stop or whatever similar stores you live near? Sell your own toys and gadgets.
Good luck, kid.

help him make fliers to pass out to the neighbors. offer services like washing a car, raking the yard, sweeping, light housekeeping, walking or washing pet. usually $5 for 30 minutes is good. that way a nice neighbor doesnt feel like they are shelling out a ton of money and your 10 year old wont be interested in the same chore after 30 minutes

With your parents permission go to all your neighbours you know and trust and ask them if they have any odd jobs you could do. Simple things - like take their dog for a walk, put the rubbish bins out, go to the local milk bar for them. (again if Mum and Dad agree to this) Read to their younger children or help with their homework. Other examples, wash their car, feed their pets, wrap their presents. Perhaps you could advertise at your local store telling people you are saving for whatever and that you are offering your services to do small odd jobs you are capable of. Tell them the times your available and the cost per half hour. Good luck.

If you are only 10 years old you do not have a lot of options. Labor laws won't allow you to work.
Go door to door and ask if anyone has any work that you can do... be prepared to do anything!
