I am looking to get my degree. I work full time. I was thinking of doing a local CC for my AA and then transfer to a 4 year for my BS. I am trying to find the lowest cost per credit hour for online learning. I do not want to go to a degree mill. I am looking for actual colleges. Not University of Phoenix or Walden..etc...Thoughts?

i have been looking for specifics; if anyone has a specific school that they found to have a particularly reasonable CPCH. cost per credit hour.

Peru State Col. and American Military U. (both RA) are well under $300 per hour. That's probably as low as it's going to get for degree granters at the bachelor's level except at your state U if your in-state is lower than $300 an hour.

Excelsior College could be an option for you if you take your classes somewhere else (ie: Louisiana State or BYU) and transfer them in. Their classes aren't the least expensive but they allow very near 100% transfer of credit in (if it's regionally accredited transfer credit).

LSU and BYU have pretty low per hour tuition for their online courses but neither offers the degree wholly online.

Do the local CC thing (it's most cost effective) and see where the state of the distance learning world is in two years. Things are changing (for the better) very quickly and you'd not want to make that decision about your bachelor's right now if you're just getting started. Keep your options open.

Many public institutions have online programs these days, you should look into it. You would only pay regular resident rates (cheap) for the class. Some places might charge a small technology fee but it's an insignificant amount.
