would anyone buy custom tailored (vs off-the-rack) business clothing (suits, shirts, topcoats, skirts) to the office, assuming it was really affordable, good looking and within your budget?

For sure, it's the details that get you noticed!

Depends on where you work really. My boyfriend has custom suits made, but he's a lawyer. I often wear jeans (styled-up with nice shoes and accessories) to the office because it's a rather informal atmosphere.

The general rule is you want to blend in with the general feel of the place. If everyone else is dressed low-key and you're wearing tailored suits...well it isn't appropriate. And vice versa, you shouldn't wear jeans if everyone else is wearing suits! But if you can afford it, I'd pick tailor-made vs off-the-rack. You can tell when it's tailor made, and it's always worth it if the tailor knows what he's doing. My boyfriend loves tailor-made suits, he says it's "another world".

Customed-tailored clothes are the way to go. Especially when they are "affordable, good looking and within your budget." Why go with off-the-rack clothing that may not fit as well when you can have tailored?

I wear a t-shirt, BDUs (battle dress pants) and heavy boots. They are issues from my employer. I only paid for the boots (about $200).

I had to have the pants hemmed...they are meant for men and were way to long...I have to wear an extra small because these pants were not made for women.

Within my budget - I probably would, since top management
might notice it, especially at promotion time. Those who
dress sharp are often picked for promotion - provided, of
course, they also do good work.
Good luck!

I would because sometimes it's hard to find just the right fit in women's suits.
