Yeah! I stood in one 2 weeks ago! The end was in a car park in Manchester. I took some photos on my phone but they didn't come out :-(. I was so excited!

um... no you wernt. rainbows are optical illusions which as you get closer to, will get marginally larger until the point at which they will cease to appear. you can never get up next to a rainbow because its an optical effect which you can only observe from far away. light comes in from sun - light gets split by water droplets or dense water vapor - light bends SLIGHTLY depending on wavelength resluting in a rainbow from far away. this results in nothing from up close unless you are in the direct line of refraction which generally does not exist because the refracting medium is very large (think big rain cloud). maybe someone slipped some acid in your coffee that morning.
