I'm American living in London, where you can find just about anything. I recently had the opportunity to visit an American military base and regressed to childhood as soon as I set foot in the commissary. There were things that I hadn't even thought about since I moved here, but when I saw them I realised how much I missed them. How about you?

oohhh, red cream soda! Another thing I'd forgotten about.

A lot of the stuff can be bought online, but it's not the same. Things like certain shops and restaurants. My husband literally squealed when he saw a Taco Bell on base!

While I don't live overseas, I live in Florida, but grew up in Michigan. Up there we call soda 'pop' and they have a pop called red cream soda which I absolutely love. Only one grocery store down here sells it and it's not a store I frequently shop at. So on holidays we make a point to go to that store so I can have my red cream soda. Another thing I miss is the store Trader Joe's. We shopped at those when we lived in California (husband was a marine, now retired) and we don't have those in Florida.

I am born and raised in New England and I would never leave but I have 3 brothers who live in Arizona and they always have me or my mother send them Marshmallow Fluff, Asso Sauce and when they come to visit we always have Fried clams, lobster and clam chowder.

They used to miss the lunch meat from the deli counter but they say that now they can get it there.

I would miss the landscape the most. I love to go hiking and can't imaging doing that next to a cactus in the heat they have out there. It is fall here now and my favorite time of year to hike.

Can you get what you miss over the Internet?

When I was young (growing up in Northern Minnesota) we would spend a lot of time ice fishing...Well, there was a nice old man who would set up his ice house and cook for everyone on the lake. He made the BEST fish hash I have ever had. I do not fish much anymore but when I do I remember the taste of that fish hash...Ah, good times.

I miss the people most. They make the biggest difference.
I miss wide streets, tall buildings that put you in perspective, big old trees, things with historical value.
There's nothing of value where I live now.
