just making good on ONE of George W Bush's champaign promises
FLIP
when Bush was running for president in 2000, he wrote a letter to the Armenian National Committee affirming that the Armenians were “subjected to a genocidal campaign.” He promised that if “elected president,” he would make sure that the United States “properly recognizes” the tragedy. From his letter:
The twentieth century was marred by wars of unimaginable brutality, mass murder and genocide. History records that the Armenians were the first people of the last century to have endured these cruelties. The Armenians were subjected to a genocidal campaign that defies comprehension and commands all decent people to remember and acknowledge the facts and lessons of an awful crime in a century of bloody crimes against humanity. If elected President, I would ensure that our nation properly recognizes the tragic suffering of the Armenian people.
FLOP
I urge members to oppose the Armenian genocide resolution now being considered by the House Foreign Affairs Committee. We all deeply regret the tragic suffering of the Armenian people that began in 1915. This resolution is not the right response to these historic mass killings, and its passage would do great harm to our relations with a key ally in NATO and in the global war on terror.

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him." G.W. Bush, 9/13/01
Washington Post, 9/17/01, UPI: Bush said he wants accused terrorist leader Osama bin Laden "dead or alive.” “I want justice...There's an old poster out West, as I recall, that said, 'Wanted: Dead or Alive,'"- G.W. Bush, 9/17/01, UPI
AP, 12/14/01: President Bush pledged anew Friday that Osama bin Laden will be taken "dead or alive."
FLOP:
Capturing OBL no longer a priority:
G.W. Bush, 3/13/02: I don't know where Bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."

Neither Hillary Clinton nor Nancy Pelosi have insulted Turkey. Turkey is not our closest muslim ally. That would be Saudi Arabia. The Turks have taken a stand against the condemnation of something that did in fact happen. So what if they are offended. We spend far too much time trying to appease everyone and never actually accomplish it.

I don't see this becoming an issue after the election. The Turks can recognize garbage politics when they see it just as we should have. This bill has been in the Congress for years and the last time it was submitted the President was Bill Clinton and he asked Congress not to vote on it because it would challenge the safety of our military protecting the No Fly Zone in Iraq.

I'm sure they will be able to work with her better than a president that invades your neighboring countries, and thinks he is a comic book hero called Super-Dubya fighting against the Axis of evil.
