Dingoes are essentially just a breed of dog, very similar to any German shepherd or golden retriever you see everyday.

They attract their mates in the same way (female goes into heat, males detect her scent, want to mate with her), and care for their offspring the same way (female finds or makes a den, gives birth to a litter of puppies, nurses the puppies).

Dingos are basically domestic dogs living in the wild and mating and care of the young is very similar.

Dingos often live in fairly harsh environments and group size is usually small. There will be a dominant male and female and sometimes a small number of subadults and occassionally adult females. Only the alpha pair will successfully raise young. If a subordinate female gives birth the alpha female will usually kill the pups. This may seem really harsh but the territory is tough and only one litter can be raised in a year.

Young are raised by the whole pack and fed regurgitated food until they're old enough to move with the pack. Males will leave before they reach sexual maturity and will usually not breed until they are 3 years old. Once they've found a partner they can stay with each other for life. Females will also leave the natal pack although they can stay on to help raise their mother's subsequent litters for a couple of seasons.
