In order to void the vacuum effect of using a exhaust fan. (Making a dark room for photography) I don't have central a/c, and thus have run into a problem with the exhaust fan being functional due to the vacuum effect. Getting those harmful vapors out of the room are crucial. Have to keep the door and window blocked with fabric to block out all light. Thank you!

You might try a vent in the door. They might make something that will filter out the light but provide air flow. Good luck.

Can you provide a 'hood' over the chemicals so that the exhaust fan will void fumes before they mix with room air? To avoid permanently modifying the room, the door knob and mechanism could be removed from the door and air let in through the 'hole' through a black plastic pipe with a bend in it to block light. That and clearances around the door may supply enough fresh air to avoid a vacuum that reduces exhaust fan flow. You might check for flow and drafts at the door and at the exhaust fan with cigarette smoke, etc. and check for proper venting with a pan of ammonia (which you should not smell if venting is satisfactory). Be sure that the door will remain shut (with Velcro?).

Google "darkroom vent" and you should find a variety of solutions. If you can't make any permanent holes you could make a vent insert that fits in the window, if it opens.
