True, the only way to be a 55 is to use the Grim Cesta from the quest Cities of Ascalon.
YOU MUST HAVE PROPHECIES
The required armor is:
-Full Radiant Insignias
-ALL Of the Monk Superior Runes on each of the armor.
-For your choice of head tattoo (All heads give +1 to an attribute), choose from protection or smiting, prot for lengthier protection duration or smiting for speedier farming.
->The purpose of a 55 is to farm monsters.
Healing Prayers: 7 + 3(Superior)
Protection Prayers: 8 + 3(Sup) (+ 1 IF You use a prot head)
Smiting Prayers: 12 + 3(Sup) (+1 IF You use a smite head)
Divine Favor: 8 + 3(Sup)
-Skills:
Protective Spirit: ALWAYS Cast this, without it, you die
Healing Breeze: Cast this when you aggro a big mob so you don't die from too much damage
Shield of Judgement: This is an elite you cap at Mineral Springs, this does the damage.
Blessed Signet: Energy Gain
Bathalzar Spirit: For your constant energy gain (Energy recieved when hit)
Essence Bond and Blessed Aura: Bond gives another constant energy gain so you almost never run out which is what I prefer and Blessed Aura your enchants last longer.
Mending: Constant small heal.

Cast all the last enchants in order: Balth, Essence, Blessed, Mending

Use a totem axe and the Cesta or Rajazan's Ferver, anything with the 20% Enchant mod is ideal.

IF you have nightfall you can use
Prot spirit
Shield of Aborption: Reduces damage by 5 therefore you get no damage
INSTEAD OF MENDING: Watchful Spirit, cast it last because when it's stripped you get a good amount of energy but you get less health regeneration but thats okay becasue you dont take damage
TO ensure survival use Shielding Hands instead of Healing Breeze
the rest stays the same
BUT You must have the protection head tattoo
So the attributes:
Protection Prayers: 10 + 3(Sup) + 1(Head)
Healing Prayers: 0 + 3(Sup)
Smiting Prayers: 11 + 3(Sup)
Divine Favor: 10 + 3(Sup)

Don't go to un-knockdownable creatures like the Hydra or enchantment stripping foes.

Good luck!

I'd start in prophecies. That way you'll have access to the "Cities of Ascalon" quest which gives you a Deadly Cesta as one of the quest rewards. This offhand item lowers your HP 50 pts which is needed to bring your health down to 55. If you start in another campaign you won't be able to take this quest so in that case you'll need to buy the Cesta from another player. Average prices are around 5k. Use superior runes to lower the rest of your health.

Most 55 monks will use a Totem Axe for their weapon because of the extra energy it provides. You can buy from a player for about 4-5k or go get one yourself in The Falls.
