Anime toughens up kids (boys particularly) with all the intense actions scenes and violence and American shows like Barney and The Wild Thornberrys make them gay. I'm talking about Anime such as Naruto and Dragonball Z, not the horror or hentai ones.

It could have to do with the fact that the very first anime that was brought over to america was hentai, and that may still be stuck in their minds. Plus, practically every anime has some sort of sexual humor in it (perveted old men, walking in on girls changine, panty shots and other fanservice etc), because Japan is a lot more ok with that sort of thing.
So I guess when parents see some of the less acceptable sexual humor, they automatically revert their thinking to believing that all anime is just "cartoon porn"

Kids that are the age to be watching Barney are probably too young to be watching all kinds of violence.... I watched Barney when I was little and now I love Inuyasha as an adult. Don't forget Bugs Bunny and those classic cartoons... they were full of violence. Which is why they're no longer allowed to show. Hmmm.

Well anime (maybe in their view) still refers to that violent cartoon show.. that has nudity at times..or adult situations.. (or maybe the hentai aspect troubles them after they read an article about it or two). Old folks are more likely to generalize things..so they are squeamish on Anime.. though they do not know much about the divergence of anime.. (its good points).. they play safe and get lazy filtering... so there..

Seriously, if your'e into action, watch Wolf Brigade or Full Metal Panic way better than DBZ or Naruto Shippuden

it is in the nature of every mother and father they dont want there kids to be violent or tough they want them to be normal that is all and believe me nowadays being tough got nothing to do with survival because a gun could bring down just about anyone so be tough all you want i can still bring you down with one shot

because our parents were brought up like that (gay) and old people fear change...like my mom used to let me watch porn and r rated movies yet i couldt play violent video games...go figure
