mate its up to you,I'm sick of defending this great country and its people, there is racism in every country around the world (even India like at the cricket the other day) so i say why bother trying to convince people who have a totally un-informed idea on Australia-you have two choices take a chance and find out for your self or go somewhere else either way i don't care, but if you do decide to come here-good luck and welcome, you'll meet some great people if you try and fit in rather than sticking to just your own community.

Everywhere has racism, it just up to you where you want to live. Weather you go to Sydney or the UK the racism amount is practically the same. It get’s blown out of proportion on the news and media. I’ve lived in Sydney and the UK and never noticed racism in the professional sector (it’s taken very seriously at work in Sydney).

Sydney is a world city with people from every walk of life, people there are use to different cultures and for the most part all get along.

Don’t stress and just enjoy your time in Sydney.

Theer is some racism in Australia, there is everywhere but it is nothing like as bad here as it is in the USA or Japan. Most people will treat you well and you will have a great time. If you are studying here you will find that our universities are cosmopolitan with people from all over the world. There is very little racism in the universities. Sydney itself is a great city with a huge range of people. Most of them get on very well.

There has been trouble recently, stirred up by that nasty little prime minister we have for another six weeks, with people being anti-Moslem. It is a small minority but they can be quite vocal. Ignore them.

Your going to Sydney... You might have trouble finding a true australian. Most of the people in Sydney are not born in Australia so there is no racism there...

I am from Australia about a hour from Sydney. there are some small minded people who are racist, but they are all over the world. most of us are friendly, come on over and give us a chance to prove we are a friendly bunch.

Hi Sunny, there isn't much racism here really. It gets shown on the news sometimes but that's a very small element of the population. I would say there is less racism here than in Malaysia. Everyone is welcome. I work with many friends from many different cultures and backgrounds - our country will benefit from having you here with us and you will take some of our country away with you, in time. Please reconsider. We are a good bunch.
