I was going to the post office today to post my application form for a new government housing grant. I had to pass 2 ginger kids stood at the bus stop, I thought they would make fun of me because of my size and because I was using a motorbility scooter, anyway to my surprise they didnt even look at me, they were shouting at a man over the other side of the road who was walking a dog. They were shouting " Oy Blacky, your dog is ugly just like you" (this man was coloured)
I got angry and I shouted at the 2 kids "hey you ginger bstards, dont talk to anyone like that, you ugly ginger freaks"
Did I do the right thing? as I think racism is totally unacceptable.

Summarily in line with what i've got discovered from my time in this section, anybody are racists. Reps and Dems hate females. Libs and cons love vast government. Black human beings and white human beings hate black human beings and white human beings, respectively and interactively. The liberals and conservatives of this section are consistently authentic via fact they suspect they're authentic. no person has any information to instruct the different team/classification/gender/orientation/race incorrect. the clarification that we've a president like Obama is via the fact, on the two aspects, we are a land of idiots.

I think you did the right thing. They deserved it. People like that only understand a harsh rebuke.

I'm proud of you for standing up to them, quite frankly. Most people wouldn't have said anything, which is really sad.

By the way, what is "ginger"?

And to the poster who said that you were a racist because you used the word "coloured," that's a bunch of crap. Racism is racism because of the intent of the racist. The word "coloured" may not be politically correct, but why is that? Our racist society came to equate "coloured" with "bad" because those who are "coloured" are looked down upon. *That* is racist. Your intent is what matters.

My son is "retarded" - that has been the medically correct term for a long time. Before that it was "idiot." Really. These terms have become derogatory because people turned them into derogatory terms after the fact. The way I see it, my son is "retarded", or mentally challenged, or intellectually delayed, or developmentally disabled - it does not matter. Just because others have turned the word retarded into a derogatory term, does not mean it's derogatory.

Soon enough the new "politically correct" terms will be considered derogatory anyway, and we will come up with a new term!

I call it righteous indignation when you did what you did. It's spontaneous on your part, which is a good thing. Other people will think twice in your place, or not do anything at all, to start with. You can't blame the (white?) kids, either. It's supposed to be the parents responsibility, primarily, and school, secondarily, to teach kids about racial equality and neighborly co-existence.

ha ha brilliant! im glad u told the little brats off!
i would have, and have done in the past, reacted in the same way.
my husband is black & it makes me so angry & sad that people can be so nasty & racist, everyone is the same on the inside.
im white, i went to africa a few weeks ago & everyone was so friendly & greeted me, there so genuine & relaxed, i went to a part where i was the only white in the village, noone shouted abuse to me in the street, so why do the whites to it to them when they visit england?!

also 'coulered' isnt a racist word. my mum used the word when she was young, same has 'half cast' for mixed. times havejust changed and the wordss have changed.

and 'ginger' isnt a racist word, if thats gonna be a racist word then we may as well add 'blondie' 'spotty' 'fatty' 'baldie' etc.

In retrospect, I suppose you could have 'accidentally' ridden your scooter over their feet and told them that you were 'sorry' and that by the next day their toes would also be black and hurting -just like the man and his dog

My hero.

I must admit I'm struggling to see how calling someone a "ginger b*astard" is actually racist, people. When you all call Crisp a "fat wan*ker" is that racist too?

Oh, and Jello - our esteemed TOP CONTRIBUTOR (impressed capitals there), what part of the question made you assume Crispy didn't have a job? I think you're being quite fattist - shame on you. He collects trolleys at ASDA - a worthwhile job, in my opinion.

Oh, God, how I hate you all. (Except the 10% who a) got the joke and b) aren't walking around trying to impress people with their political correctness).

You did the right thing in theory but I think it best not to categorize, a**holes are a**holes no matter what form they take so I keep it general.

I think you would have taught them more if you had not mentioned their hair colour and their parents' marital status. After all how would you know whether their parents are married or not?

You were showing the kids that iit is alright to judge by clour and looks - which of course it is not! You should lead by example. Calmly talk to them about why it is wrong to talk to people in that way.

Explain that racism is against the law for a start.

They might be like that because they have received prejudices because of their hair colour themselves, you know, like bullied people, or those who feel insecure about themselves might turn into bullies themselves.

I certainly would have spoken to them, so I think you did the right thing in that arena, but calling them bs#$(&)* and ginger freaks was uncalled for. By the way, what is a ginger?
