I currently have Brendan Shanahan (NYR - LW) in my line up but I'm not sure if I should drop him and pick up Cory Stillman(Car - LW)? Shanahan has only contributed 1 assist in 5 games while Stillman has 5 points in 3 games. Carolina looks to be on fire and could have a potential shot at the cup while the Rangers look old and sluggish. Even though Shanahan has 29 more shots on goal, I'm not sure if his season is going anywhere? Any advice would be helpful?

Three things:

1. It is WAY too early to start panicking on your players and picking Stanley Cup winners. I have won leagues because of people like yourself dropping stars in the first month and me picking them up. Don't forget that it's an 82 game season! Minnesota won their first six games last year. Did they win the Cup? Two years ago everyone dropped star players for Dan Cleary after a hot start. He ended up ranked something like 200. Hmm...

2. Don't forget that "points" are not the only thing that count in this league. So do shots on goals and PIMS, which Shanahan will have a lot more of than Stillman. Shanahan will likely have more goals as well. Is he better than Stillman? Time will tell, but don't forget that ALL the categories count the same.

3. If you still want Stillman, I recommend trading Shanahan and getting something back for him, rather than dumping him. Surely you have someone worse than Shanny that you can drop.

If the season was one month long, I'd say go with Stillman.

Carolina's on fire, the Rangers are still jelling, but I'll still take Shanahan's pedigree over Stillman's any day. As you noted, Shanny's been peppering the net big time and the goals bound to start coming.

The fact that Shanahan would be picked up the very second you waived him should be a clue that he's very much worth sticking with.

Shanny is money in the bank, long term. I'd keep him
