The federal government gives Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS partial funding for their broadcast, and the funding changes every year depending on.....guess what? How much the federal government likes that company that year. Fox gets the most..gee I wonder why.

The problem with the media is that they have already become controlling on every aspect in life. They are on billboards, tvs, radios ect. The government is actually supportive of the media's decision to hold back information that is stunning or revealing about corruption. The media may even display the information in a much edited and borderline truth sort of way. This is all because they have to power to do this.
One of the biggest problems of the media is that the people behind it are those with the political views that are powerful have lasting effects on the people (in most cases), and they will use their form of media to slowly plant their views into the public.
While never fair, there is little one can do. If you rally or make a statement, many forms of media will edit, bend, and lie their way through it to make you look bad, or even keep it under cover completely. It is seen everywhere and there is no point for media personnel to deny it, because this information has gone public.

That's a pretty sweeping generalization, and you'd have to be a lot more specific than that. Everyone in the media would love to run good stories about establishment corruption.
The problem is that one person's definition of the truth does not match another's. Most of the censorship I've seen involves offending advertisers, and it has been done on a very small-town level. The big outlets can be pretty fearless at times -- not perfect, but they try.

The media is the favorite whipping boy for both conservatives and liberals. Each blames the media of being in the pocket of the other party, but basically they are all whining because their viewpoint isn't being presented as the only possible opinion. The media has a tough job to do, and I think for the most part they do a good job.

Your definition of corrupt seems to be based on your perception of the media as supporting petrochemical companies and conservatives. As a conservative, I can tell you that the American mainstream media (i.e., major broadcast television, major newspapers) control 90% of tne information available from the media and are extremely liberal. If you are looking for conspiracy theories attacking business and fawning acceptance of big government programs, the American mainstream media are waiting for you. The New York Times is an excellent example of a liberal newspaper; one that enjoys attacking conservatives and capitalism on every page. Paul Krugman writes an editorial column in the NYT purportedly about economics and uses his colums as a forum to bash all things conservative. In fact I can't think of a conservative newspaper other than the Wall Street Journal. A better question might be "Are the media lazy?" or "Are the media sensationalistic?" or even "Are the media biased?"

Well if u r a journalist and u want the truth printed, it is probably not easy. Some have died trying.
Media is only an extension of human activity so why shouldn't some of it be corrupt and some not. Read between the lines.

I don't know if they are corrupt. I think they just represent their view and values. In the US, they represent the view of the areas they live in, Washington, NY, California, and a few large cities. Sadly, this is not the values of the majority of the people in the country. When I and my friends wath the news it is like it is some other country.
Thanks to CNN we at least have Glen Beck.

Of course they are corrupt - what they print/broadcast is largely controlled by politicians. Politicians are corrupt, ergo the media is as well!
