hi, i got US notebook(xp) and like to buy an external hard drive(IOdata or buffalo) i don't know whether it can be used with US windows. can someone knowing this give me the answer please? thank you very much.

They are universal, except for the power supply which you need to check is the correct voltage for your country

If that external hard drive has a USB connection and provided that your laptop supports external USB devices then yes it will definitely work.
