Why is that women can get away with hitting a man, but if a man hit a woman its a big deal?

People say, why don't you just walk away if she hits you. Why is it that she can't walk away from the situation before she hits you. I don't believe in fighting people, but I will defend myself from man, woman, beast, etc.

Double standards. People are still stuck in the old mentality. Nobody should be hitting anyone else, and if someone is attacked they should have the right to defend themselves, no matter if the attacker is a man or a woman.

I think if somone is actively attacking you, then you DO have a right to hit them back, man, woman or whatever. Its another thing to just go up to somone and just hit them for no reason.
Historically, men used to be allowed to treat their wives anyway they wanted eg, not being allowed to hit them with an object longer than ten inches long, etc. So maybe the difference is due to that.
Hey, maybe in the future when society is more balanced, you can go up to anyone and hit them whenever you feel like it!

If you are big enough to go around hitting people, then you're big enough to get hit back. I don't care if you are man, woman or child. If you hit someone, expect to get hit back. People have a right to defend themselves...
I mean if I hit a man, I'd *expect* him to hit me back, what kind of man doesn't stand up for himself? Not like I actually go round hitting people (I'm quite small, I'd get pasted...)

Sounds like you need a new girlfriend. There are plenty of girls out there who don't hit anyone, and if they did would full well expect to get hit back and rightfully so.

I know! why don't you just turn her over your knee and spank the crap out of her, and say "since your mama didn't teach you how to treat people I guess I will!!"

It's obvious that men's physical size and strength is disproportionate to women's. In that respect, we don't hit women more than they can inflict bodily harm on us gentlemen. Only Dirty Harry does that in one of his films I can't recall now.

For that reason alone, the disparity cannot be considered double standard.

Don't be such a wuss. First of all, how did you let her hit you, don't you have any reflexes? Ok, Ok. Look, maybe you didn't hear but LIFE'S NOT FAIR. If you have such a glass chin, maybe you shouldn't be pissing off your girlfriend.
