Philosophy is a shared pursuit of the truth. The aim of Philosophical Education is freedom of thought and to create the following community:
i) it is a unique way of life, different from religion and politics; often in conflict with them
ii) it is a particular way of life; not common doctrine (friends and lovers in a shared pursuit of the truth about the permanent and universal Qs
iii) attaining self-knowledge
...knowledge of the particular combination of reason, desire and will (individual soul which defines each of us)
...knowledge of the origins of your ideas and opinions and the reasons for them
iv) knowledge of the truth - clearly stated and proven

Being human, having a highly developed brain and nervous system, man must think; and thinking is the pathway to philosophy. The world in which we live keeps challenging us with problems to be solved, demanding that we act wisely or be destroyed by the forces which inhabit our world..But we cannot rest contented with a mass of unrelated experiences scattered at random throughout life. We must take our experiences and weave them in to some kind of a pattern, a whole which is more or less satisfying. This pattern, this whole is the aim of philosophy- understanding the meaning of life which the world has for us.
