A lot of people don't seem to know what they're talking about so ignore most of the answers on this page. I assume you didn't buy an extended warranty and there's nothing wrong with that. So you probably have 30 days from the store and 12 months from the manufacturer.
You can take it back to the store but that probably won't do you any good. They'll point out the return policy (probably printed on the back of the receipt) and give you the manufacturer's phone number. From there the manufacturer will give you a claim number so you can take it to FedEX or UPS and have it returned to the manufacturer at their expense. You probably won't get a new computer but they will repair and ship back to you. You're Hard drive will be wiped but your PC should be good as new.

The first thing that needs to be established is what is wrong. It could be that the DVD hardware has failed. Equally it could be that your software is at fault. The OS could be failing to identify the the drive correctly or the Media playing software you have could be at fault. With software errors there are always two possibilities 1) an unfortunate corruption has occured, files have been cross linked...something, or more likely 2) you have installed something that has made system wide changes that are effecting the way you can access DVD's.
It's a little premature to be talking about rights and replacing things when you haven't establish exactly what is wrong and whether you did it or not.

well really you can do two things. don't worry about packaging. if you only had it for 3 months you should still have a warranty some computers come with a one to two year warranty. I would call the marketer of the computer. tell them your problem. there number will be in your manuals and warranty papers that came with the computer. they will send you a box with an address on it will have you put the problem in detail on paper then put your modem or your tower in the box. seal and call FedEx there number will be on there two they pay all shipping charges because of your warranty. or you could take it to a computer store but they can be really expensive and a waste of money not always but sometimes I would definitely call the company soon before any more damage is done.... good LUCK!!!

Hi, if its still under the period it can be replaced then I recommend that u get it replace because seriously a new machine shouldn't have any problems with it at all. I suggest go demand for a replacement. If they do it then thats great, if they don't then tell them clearly that if the machine has a problem again u want a replacement. They may agree to that. I hope I helped.
Good Luck and take care!

Take it back to Tescos. They'll almost certainly give you a replacement. I have returned a faulty DVD recorder to them and they replaced it immediately. But first, if you can, ring the Tesco "fault-line" number you will have on your receipt. They will give you a product exchange code once they accept your computer is defective. Then you go to customer services, explaining the problem and quote to them the code you were given. You will then have no problem whatsoever, as they have to action once given that code. In my experience Tesco were excellent to deal with, and have got no complaints about them, as long as you follow their faulty goods return/replacement procedure.
Who the hell is giving all the bad answer (13 up to now) ratings? People are trying to help.

you're entitled for your a refund, no more suitable, no a lot less. do not enable them restoration it because you're accepting the products. Tesco's ought to refund your money with out question, in the adventure that they don't, threaten them with the small claims courtroom. you may want to ask an self sufficient engineer to guage the computing gadget and deliver a replica of the record to Tesco. once you do get your a refund, the perfect places to purchase a computing gadget are John Lewis, Dell and self sufficient shops in that order. strong luck.

Don' t worry about the packing box !
Get that PC with your receipt back to Tescos right away !
Your limited warranty may still be good !
If it is , then they' ll fix your PC for free .
Most limited warranties are only good for 90 days , so , don' t waste anymore time !

Blame the communist Chinese and corporate greed. The communists use slave labor to make shoddy merchandise that isn't worth crap, then they sell it for 20c to US companies who sell it to you for $20. That huge difference in price goes to fund Corporate Greed while you are stuck with non-functional cheap Chinese garbage. So the end result is you get a dvd drive that won't work and the Chairman of the Boards gets a $20 million bonus, and the Chinese slave laborers get clubbed alongside the head until they make twice as much crap in half the time.
That's the way it works, and it's a deliberate plot by the communists and corporations to rob you blind.
My stand on it is this: if the Chinese crap I had to buy because you do not sell American-made products ever fails, you WILL take it back and give me a new one for free. If I have to go to your customer service desk and yell my head off and make a very Big Scene about communist slave labor and corporate greed I will, and I will not stop until you see the wisdom of giving me a new one.
I have done this several times and it works. No store wants somebody yelling at the top of their lungs about the communist Chinese; it's bad for business, which is selling more cheap Chinese crap and ripping even more people off so the Chairman of the Board can get that 250-foot yacht he wants while you end up with bupkis.

If you purchased it brand new 3 months ago and things are starting to not work already. I would return it for sure! They should be will to fix the problem or replace it. Computers are not cheap, if they needed to be replaced every 3 months, no-one would have one.
Best of luck to you

Take it back and complain - even without packaging if you want a new one they should exchange it for a replacement.
After 3 months you should have no problems - these are obviously inherent manufacturing problems so consumer rights are on your side..
