A regular monitor is a Cathode Ray Tube, CRT, just like a TV and LCD is Liquid Crystal Display like in a digital watch

The common monitor uses a CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) for display. It is bulky, consumes more energy and has more glare. There is low intensity x-ray emission also. LCD monitors are thin, light, bright and definitely better from glare point of view. There is no radiation problem.

Liquid Crystal Display(LCD) is the most popular monitor used.it is lighter, smaller, slimmer than the CRT monitor.
