This question unfortunately doesn't make much sense, is it an electric shower which should be run off the cold main, or a shower with a pump which needs gravity fed hot and cold water, do you have a combi or a conventional heating system?

You will have to get good advice, You need to give more info.
are you talking about an electric shower?
Most electric showers only have a cold connection. How much cold water is stored in your tank? this will have to be checked with the shower instructions, you might find you need another tank.
Mixer showers are better, use mains pressure for both hot and cold, does your boiler supply high pressure hot water with good flow rates?

If you have a HW cylinder then a separate pump is the way to go. Stuart & Turner are excellent, I paid around 120 for a dual pump. The flow rate beats that of an electrically heated shower hands down.

To install a power shower will be very costly if you do'not have a convetional heating system consult a a qualified person on this as now by law you must have it fitted by a skilled and qualified person, pop along to B&Q, they will give you all the info you need free of charge and advise you on the type of shower best suited to your needs.

I have a combi boiler and was advised I would have to spend £300 on a specialist pump for this type of system. If I had a normal tank then I could use it fine.

power showers are great- a friend of mine has one and the only drawback was the massive water bill! sorry for not answering your question properly, but thought you might want to take that into consideration!
