yes but there a error here
let x=1 , y=1 so
x = y ;
x * x = x * y ; ( multiplying both sides by x )
x * x - (y * y) = x * y - (y * y) ;
(subtracting both sides by y * y)
(x - y) ( x+ y) = y ( x - y); (factorising )
x + y = y ; (cancelling ( x -y ) on both sides )
1 + 1 = 1 !!!! ;
However there a CATCH here

1 + 1 = 1 means
1 = 0. Possible? Not in our decimal or base 10 number system.
For example,
1 + 1 = 10 in base 2. From base 3 onwards, we have 1+1 = 2.
Unless of course "1 + 1" is NOT necessarily taken to "mean" the "usual addition".
We can use the "theory of operators" in mathematics and "define" "1 + 1 = 1".
Operator theory is interesting because "you can define" things. For example, take "+" to mean "arithmetic multiply" in a "space defined on (+)" and we get "1 + 1" actually is " 1 x 1" and thus equals to "1".
In taking "+" to mean "marriage for first child". 1 Husband and 1 wife yields "1 first child". 1 + 1 = 1 here by definition.
In the mathematical sense its impossible.
Hope this helped.
