I think "Pirates of the Carribean" is a good example. Part 2 was quite better than part 1.
"Wrong Turn 2" was better than part 1.
Some of the "Child's Play/Chuckie" movies were better than the original. (all of them were, except "Seed of Chucky" that was just horrible).

lol alot of folks will diagree with you that pirates sequel are better than first, check rating dude. first one has far better rating over the sequel one. The only movie score higher than original is Lord of The Ring Sequel.

yes the sequels are better than the original. just take the example of Spiderman series. 2nd is better than 1st and 3rd is better than 2nd.

its normal to feel that way i thought pirates 2 was better than 1 and pirates 3 was better than 2 i think its because the directors figure out wat was wrong with the previous and upgrade to a better plot story etc.
