So I just got married and moved to a small town in Canada...I'm originally from Los Angeles California (the valley to be exact)... some people say how nice it must be to live so close to nature without the pollution of L.A. ( and I do live near lakes, the ocean, trees, mountains... and a place where children can walk to school without being afraid) and others say "OMG! how can you live without a mall? and no place to hang out?" (and I agree too... everything closes at 6..even starbucks closes at 9!) ... what do you think? Where would you rather live? Small town Canada or big city Los Angeles? And also add where you live (small town or big city) and why you chose what you chose.

Well I live in big city Canada and have only been to L.A. once. I enjoy city life over rural but if it weren't for work, I would prefer to live in a small town with an hour drive to a big city. I prefer the smell and scenery of the small towns but you're right, you need a nightlife and things to do during the day. although if you just got married maybe you'll have kids to take care of and keep you busy soon enough? I think small town life would be much better for that

I'd give you three months max, I live in the center of Sydney and I was offered a job working in B.C. Canada and thought that a change would be as good as a holiday. Within a week of being there I seen and been to everything. Sydney being 24/7 big city then to a 9-5 town in Canada didn't suit me at all.My idea of going out all night wasn't sitting by a river all night fishing. Or having to drive over 20 miles to a gas station when the all stores closed at 6 just to buy milk and odds and ends . Wasn't a tick of wanting to stay there when I could walk out my front door here in Sydney to a grocery store a half of a block away and do my weekly shopping or go to the gym and have a meal, drink or coffee anytime or even at four in the morning. I gave it a go realizing it wasn't for me.I missed the sirens and noise, traffic people walking around all of the time. My dad laughed when I returned knowing I never even lived in the suburbs. I'd choose living in the center of any big city anytime.

I live in a medium sized town in Massachusetts (A population of about 24,000). I do like it here, everything is very close by (The shopping plaza, my high school was right down the street, etc.)
I have always thought Canada would be a nice place to live, but if I had to move there, I think a large city would be great to reside in, such as Toronto or Ottawa. But I'm happy where I am, and I hope you are too.

Canada!!! Without a doubt!!!!
What small town are you talking about? It depends what town. I was raised in Toronto, but I vacation in California (LA, San Fran, and San Diego) at least once a year, sometimes more.
And I love shopping, lol, so I see where you're coming from. I love Canada too much to live in the U.S., but yes, you're right, it's hard for a city kid to live in the country. Move to Toronto, Vancouver, or Montreal.

I'm gonna have to agree with A. Dee on this one-but I'd have to stay in the U.S. I'm familiar with majority of the laws and ways of life here...you get pretty much the same from both countries though... what the deal?

I'm sure that any lifestyle you have in Canada could be found somewhere in America.
Both countries have freedom, democracy and opportunities.
