Humans will always differentiate. If we didn't have skin color or ethnicities, it would be any of the many other things - hair or eye color, height, etc.
People already discriminate based on weight as well. Either people will feel superior and treat others like crap or feel inferior and be pissed off at those they perceive as superior or privileged.
As a species, we are rarely happy with the status quo,.

How old are you?
If you are an adult I can't believe you are that naive. If you are a teenager, research the history of the world, don't believe that racism is only happening in the USA. Racism exits even among the same races. The question is really too general to give a short answer, besides you are asking in a forum that is full of racist nut jobs, like the guy before me.

Because humans categorize to make life simple. So if you have a bad experience with something and that person has a trait you can identify easily you will tell yourself to watch out for those kind of people or events.
If you had one boss who was a old white man and he was a sexist pig you might start to think all old white men were. You might say I don't want any more white bosses or I don't want any more men bosses or I don't want any more old bosses. If you get a second bad one that is either old white or male you will prove you are right so from then on be very leary of all people like that.
