I don't watch Nip/Tuck. And I don't think I want to take advice from a fake tv show.

No, they'll do it for any reason as long as you're 16 or over.

I don't like my nose. I have my dad's nose and I don't want to look like him.

I have parental consent.

Also I'm pretty sure I need a septoplasty (because my nostils are too different sizes and very small at the top so it's kinda hard for breathing) so I might as well get my nose done right then instead of waiting.

It's not that my nose is ugly or anything. I just don't want to have any of my dad's features if that's possible.

2007-10-16 19:54:42 · update #9

Mr. M, I don't think think my nose is ugly. I've never been called big-nose or anything. It's just that my dad is not a respectible person and I don't want to have any of his features and one of the features I inherited was his nose so I want a different one.

Also, I'm pretty much developed. I'm not getting any taller (I'm at least 5'8" and I've been that way since the sixth grade), my body's pretty much fully developed and I've been getting mistaken for a woman in her early twenties since I was 11 years old.

Just look in your phone book for plastic surgeons then research them. makesure they're board certified.
Just a note. Unless you want something minor like removing a bump, most plastic surgeons consider it unethical to do a nose job on a 16 year old.
Also because you're under 18 a plastic surgeon might also require you to see a counselor before s/he operates.
I had a classmate in high school who wanted a nose job at 17. The surgeon refused to operate after she saw a counselor, even after parental consent, becuase the counselor felt she was immature and incompetant and wanted a nose job for the wrong reason. I won't get into the reasons why she wanted the nose job.
You reason seems like a reason a counselor might be ok with but just be prepared to see a counselor. A good plastic surgeon checks each of his/her patients for things like BDD.
BDD is Body dysmorphic Disorder. It's when a person has constant insecurities about their body. Think of it sort of like anorexia or bulimia but instead of weight the person is unhappy about their body and will never be happy. most people with BDD think they'll be proud of their body after getting plastic surgery. But then they go back for procedure after procedure.
A plastic surgeon will not operate on anyone for any reason, it's against ethics. Since you are under 18 they are going to check for things like BDD and other psychatric things before operating.
I'm just giving you the heads up that because you are under 18 be prepared to go through a lot of trouble before actually getting your nose job. just my advice, if you don't find all this trouble worth it, you might want to consider a nose job as your 18th birthdya present.

Any parent who would let themselves be pressured into allowing a 16 year old CHILD to get any surgry that was not absolutely necessary should not be allowed to raise children! At 16 the body is still growing and maturing ,if you do not wait until she is done growing the new nose wont fit her adult face!! Its common sense, But I am sure she (@16) thinks that her nose is "TOO BIG,!,GOD I HATE IT ! I AM SO UGLY!" Your not doing her any favors,, your just shutting her up and you will both pay dearly for letting the child make the Adult decisions.

this depends on what state you are in, why you want it done and which surgeon you go with.

some states require parental consent for plastic surgery to be done on a minor-some don't.

if this is b/c you have a deformity-it will be easier to find a surgeon willing to do the operation. if it's b/c you feel you want a change, it might be harder to find a doc.

also-most surgeons won't operate on anyone under the age of 18 (they have the right to refuse) but some will. i know that when i wanted to have my tubes tied at the age of 22-i went through 3 different doctors before i found one willing to do so. they all thought i was too young.

so be prepared to have to hunt around for a surgeon who is willing to do this and make sure he/she knows what they are doing.

Your face will grow into your nose. And if it doesn't you can always get it changed later in life. But you'll need a car when your parents make you get a job, which might be in the next few years.

We don't always get what we want in Life. You are still growing and changing. Ethical Plastic Surgons will not do any sugeries for these very reasons.

If you are old enought to get a Nose Job then you are old enough to do the research YOURSELF.

You can pretty much get info on that anywhere on the web by looking up rhinoplasty. But please do this because YOU want it, no one else. I'm a firm believer in doing things like that only to better your feelings about yourself. Make sure it's really worth it ok? Good luck
