By 2010 the ITA (International Air Transport Association) wants to give you the freedom of using you phone as a boarding pass when you load at the gate. What are your ideas about this paperless plan?

Though you would be using your cellular phone which would have a text sent to it, you would also have to show your id before going thorugh your gate to board. These scan text would have a code that is matched against the list of names on the rosters. This method is already being tried with Canada Air and in Japan. U.S.-based carriers, including Continental and Southwest will be the first to tip their hats to this new technology as soon as it is passed with a green light here in the US.

i don't think it would be a good idea because then anyone could go through the gate. at least with a boarding pass, they could check to see if everything is fine before going through the gate. for all you know, someone could have stolen the cell phone and could be a terrorist, but you just wouldnt know if they had stolen the cell phone. also, not everyone has a cell phone, and this will be making people go out and get one, which is another thing they'd have to worry about

Yeah, I don't know. Cell phones are often lost or stolen.

Also--Seems convenient, but what about those who don't have cell phones, or text messaging? Will they not be able to fly?
