Two things:First was personaly immune to corruption and secondly the very same person which before the Revolution has resigned as a judge because he woldn't sign a death warrant, during the Revolution instigated the Terror which second thousards to their graves....

He was a power hungry SOB who thought nothing of having people's heads severed for HIS own political gain. But...he got his in the end..heh, heh. A bullet in the jaw and then his head dropped into a wicker basket as well.

Not a single thing - he was an ammoral opportunist, responsible for the needless death of hundreds if not thousands.
