Most places make good Dungeness crab, on my visit I had it at an upscale Italian restaurant, I forget the name, but it was past Baudin Bakery and has a bright neon sign looming above the piers. Another place I had it was the Stinking Rose, a more moderately priced Italian place I believe on Broadway, not as great there but still pretty good. Honestly although I hadn't tried it I'm sure the crab sold in the street stands would have been just as delicious but with diff. ambiance. Happy eating.

Call Pier 23 Restaurant, I've had a 5 course meal there once and it was great, can't say i tried the crab though. This restaurant sits right on the ocean and is where professional college grads hang out. Not a stuffy place, has in door and out door dining. Beautiful scenery if you choose outdoors. I would imagine they'd have some good crab.

FYI, Stinking Rose is on Columbus.
Go to Fisherman's Wharf but look for Pompeii's Grotto. Food is outstanding there.
