I would say depends on where you are in life right now. If you are young, free and single, why not give it your best shot, shore up some savings so that you can take it easy in the later years of your life. A little hardship now for a sweeter tomorrow, why not? Especially when you have no one to worry about, this is the best time to spread your wings, so to speak.

On the other hand, if you are married with family etc, consider how a high paying job with demanding hours would affect your family, cos now your life is not your own. Discuss it with them cos you'll need their support in whatever you ultimately decide upon. Work together with your family to decide on what your collective priorities are and take it from there.

No, it is not worth it. I had a position as GM/Country Manager for a fortune 500 company but my family was suffering for it. I gave it up, got a smaller house, cheaper cars and my life back. My salary took a big leap backwards but my wife and kids are all I need, when you are on your death bed are you going to say "I wish I worked harder and drove the new BMW?"

What's the point of having a high paying job if you don't have any time to enjoy your high pay?

I say nahhh! It is definitely not worth it. Unless you REALLY hate your family. Because that's what your family will think.

I guess that's something you'd have to decide for yourself. It wouldn't be worth it to me.
