I have a issue here and I hope someone can tell me the answers to my question? They are working on building us a new bridge across the creek here on the road I live.. They accidently cut into the main water line... They turned the water back on after 11 hours without any problems, they did this now 2 other times. I was home 2 of the times they cut it off and knew what to do when I turned on the faucets. Well the 3rd time I wasn't home.My mother had lung surgery for cancer and I was with her and when I came home I had to run the dogs some water that stays in my home and when I turned that faucet on it about blew it off the sink, I didnt go in the back bedroom where the hot water heater is.No one stays in there.I waited 2 days until I knew my mom was ok and went into the bedroom to move the computer in there and water was standing in the carpet. The hot water heater the lines coming up through the floor was busted.. can that do this? If you need more information please e-mail me,

They cut the main water line and the 3rd time I wasnt home and came home and turned the water on, I didnt go into the back bedroom for 2 days and the mayor over the water company said "" this is the oldest Insurance claim they are"" That is what has me pissed off. I am not trying to gain any money from them this caused my water heater to blow, the lines to blow and now the floors are starting to buckle... Is there any way I can get this in writing to show them? They took this up front of the city council and all they did was made me out of a liar... My son is on the fire depart. and he said that this did what it did.... They are only going to pay me 350.00 you know with the floors coming up now that is going to cost more than that. 4 sheets of drywall the putty, and the water heater alone was 268.00 let me know guys you all have been a huge help...

It sure can. When you release water from a faucet, water comes out at a given rate, depending on the size of the opening, the initial pressure and the friction losses in the piping. Water travels through the pipe at some rate of speed. When you turn off the water, All the moving water in the pipes has to come to a stop. This causes a momentary buildup of pressure. The system usually can handle the buildup. When you release trapped air from the pipe, the rate of flow is much greater, and the speed of water moving in the pipe is much higher. Greater pressures build up when that fast moving water hits the opening, and has to slow down. This is often called water hammer, and can do damage to the piping. More than likely this is what happened.

When I do my own plumbing I make sure that I turn on the water slowly so I don't bang the lines with the water pressure and air in the lines. Anything is possible for lines to break.

It sounds like when the water came back on it was under excessive pressure.. Ask them to fix the problem

It sounds to me that your pressure regulator finally blew a hole in the diaphragm and needs to be replaced.Check your water pressure. Any pressure above 80 psi requires a regulator (upc)

you could prefer to be very careful what you do with gas boilers, till finally you're a registered gas greater greater healthy, if I even have been you i might desire to attempt to locate a stable gas greater greater healthy and characteristic the boiler serviced, tell them what's incorrect and prefer for the ideal, British gas are quite intense priced, I had to have my boiler replaced and you could prefer to have a SEDBUK A or B rated condensing boiler, (this could be a criminal requirement), British gas had to cost me, £4000, I even have been given a private Corgi registered gas greater greater healthy and he did the activity for £1400 so be careful, by strategies, Corgi don`t do the registrations now applying actuality they lost the settlement.
